Not  a lot about me has been shared through my blog. As a make money online blog, I try to stick to the topic at hand.  The reason most visitors come to my site is to learn how to make money through the Internet. The Internet has been an amazing way for me to make money and I love sharing new ideas with the readers. If you read my posts I can not promise I will make you a millionaire heck I am still working on that myself.

What I can do is teach people how to make enough money to cover bills and maybe even replace their income. The great thing about the Internet is that there is so much opportunity. Every so often I look at starting an offline business maybe a franchise.

Then I see the start up cost and it just makes me love the Internet even more. With very little money anyone can set up a small business online. You can reach so many people and spend very little to do so. My blog Vendingmatic is about my journey to make money online and my growth as an Internet Marketer.

If I can do this I believe anyone can do it or at least give it a try. If you go through the archive you will find many ideas that you can use to start making money. You just need to take action. As I work on the next chapter of Vendingmatic.info I plan on sharing more detail on how I got started and where I want to go next.

The best part is having loyal readers that will follow me on Twitter or through the blog and I can be part of the learning process. What I learned from others I like to share and give back. It really is about karma and what you put out. Let’s make 2010 a great year for all of us who believe in making money online and hope you will gain knowledge and be motivated to take action.

One thing I learned very early on with doing business online is to diversify. What I mean by diversify is to have more then one source of income online. If you do any affiliate marketing, then make sure the offers you run are available on more then one network. If for some reason an offer is pulled on one network then you have it on another network and do not lose your source of income. When I first started selling online I had a CD shop. All I sold was CD’s and this was fine for awhile, then Napster happened. You know what that did to my CD shop it almost put me out of business. Luckily this happened at the same time the DVD’s were taking of and I was able to move my business in that direction. As the trend for DVD’s died out I got into other items to sell online and realized that if you do not have more sources you can be out of business very quickly. Now when I set up a business I know the risk and I try to have more then one source of income. If something happens to one source I have a few more to make money online. If you follow the old saying don’t keep all your eggs in one basket you should do well online. Try to reach out to new sources of income, study trends and be ready to move when opportunity comes along. You do not want to miss new sources of income keep you a journal write down any ideas that come to mind. You want to get more back up plans ready to go as some of your businesses experience decline. If you follow this and make it a habit to have back up sources of income will not be without income when one of your business slows down or dies out.

It is not that hard to make money at blogging. If you have a passion about a certain topic then you can make money by blogging about it. Time and time again we find people online making money with the stuff they enjoy talking about. If you have built up any knowledge on certain topic others are looking for your reviews and advice. If you become a trusted source for the topic people will return to your site and you will soon start to have a following. It takes a little time to get to a profitable level, but it can be done. If you look at the blog of the more successful bloggers it did not start over night. The first post were not that great and it took time for their writing to develop.


Once a blogger found his or her voice people referred the site and return often to catch up on any new posts. You have to think of your blog as a business and also a community. Without the community you have no business. You want to build trust that what your are saying is truthful and that you want to share the best information with your audience. If you achieve this then when you do mention something that can be monetized on your site your readers will have more trust. If you are recommending then write a fair post that covers the good and the bad on the topic and your true opinion if this is worth your readers time and money. These are just a few steps that you can take to make your blog not only a true community online, but also a profitable business for the blogger.

With the amount of time I spend online to make money I risk not having a meaningful life. On average to make money online I need to spend about 15 hours a day in front of my computer. There are days that I spend less time on the computer and I go on to do other things. With so much time spent trying to make money there is less time to spend with the family and to enjoy other activities. Don’t get me wrong I love working from home and on the computer. The computer has been part of my life since I was 6 years old and I could not live without some sort of interaction with the computer. What I need to do is take a few hours away from the computer and have some sort of balance. In order to have a meaningful life it is not all about money or work. We need to spend time with our families and enjoy the simple things in life. If you can do both make money and spend time with those you love you are working towards a better more meaningful life.

Those of you who sell on eBay know the difficulty of getting new stuff to sell. If you deal in garage sale finds and other nick nacks then Doba might be a better source. The question I always get from would be online entrepreneurs, is how I start without any money. It is true that it take a bit of money to start pulling in more traffic to your site, but you can start for no cost and scale up as you go. There are many free resources online that can help you get started. If you need web space you can find plenty of services for free. Once you have a web site you need to find ways to monetize the site. You can get a free affiliate marketing account with a company like Market Leverage. This account will allow you to place banners and links on your site that can earn you lot’s of money. Once you figure out what your site is going to be about you add the links that best match your content. When I started selling online I used eBay to sell my own products and just stuff I had around the house, but then I soon ran out of stuff to sell. This is why I like affiliate marketing so much. You do not need to carry any inventory, you just need a web site to promote other companies products or services. The only challenge you will have when you fist get started is the lack of traffic to your site. As a new site added to Google or Bing you might not get the volume of traffic that you need to convert to sales. This is why most pro affiliate marketers use paid advertising like Google Adwords to drive traffic to their affiliate offers. You might want to have at least $100 to start playing with Google Adwords. Once you build your site you will then set up a campaign in Google Adwords, and pick keywords that people searching on Google will find your site with. Once you have a trial of Google Adwords you can figure out what work and what does not. Making money online is tough and you need to keep learning as you go along. The nice thing is that you can start for very little cost and get results very quickly. If you can spend a little more get web site hosting and build your own site with your own domain name. It cost money, but you will be building a brand.

As an affiliate marketer it is important to network. You need to make contact with people in the industry. This is the only way you are going to learn and get inside knowledge to different aspects of the business. Attending meet up’s and trade shows are of great value. You should always carry business cards with you and do not be shy about handing them out. Even in normal business setting I hand out my cards. This does lead to a lot of people asking what affiliate marketing is and do I make any money. Then I give them a brief low down and their like wow I should be doing this. The more events that you can attend the better for your business. You should try to go to any event that is related to marketing online. Even if it does not sound like something that you are doing, you could end up walking away with some great contacts and information. This year I was not able to get to many events, but I am going to start attending more and looking for local sessions. If you talk to anyone in any business that has great success, you will find that they are great at networking. If you can cultivate relationships and build trust people will help you and lead in the direction you want to take your business. Now get out there and start networking and grow your business and knowledge.
