    Yahoo! Search Marketing
The banning of Google Adwords accounts in December has created a demand for other traffic sources. As many affiliate marketers found  that their account had been banned by Google, a search for traffic was on. Many affiliates have been trying media buys. There are also many PPC networks to try and test. The only way to figure out if a PPC network works is to test it. It is going to cost a bit of money up front and you will have to do some work with your campaigns. If it all works out you found a great traffic source then it’s well worth the cost of testing. If it failed and you just can’t get any conversion then it’s time to move on. Since my ban from Google I would estimate my spending on different traffic sources around $1500 with mixed results. There were a few networks that just did not convert and a few that did convert, but not enough to be profitable. It’s all about the testing. If you can mange to get just one traffic source that converts well at a low cost per click then you will make up for your losses. Keep trying and look for reviews and case studies from other affiliates, but remember that no one is going to reveal a winning PPC network with fear of competition. You will be on your own to test and find networks, but it always pays to have a bit of information before you spend any money.

    MIVA.com
Last summer I tried MIVA which is a PPC network like Google Adwords. At the time the campaign I ran did not do much in sales. The MIVA site did send a good number of clicks my way. Since I only spent $50 at MIVA it was not enough to truly validate this traffic source. Just before Christmas I tired a new campaign and added $200 to test the traffic. The new campaign did much better and I was ahead by $124 which is not a bad profit for a short test like this. Following a few tips I read online I played with a few offers that might best match MIVA’s traffic and it worked. If you are looking for traffic and have a bit of money to play with then give MIVA a try.

Make sure your landing pages are optimized and asking for the sale. Most people coming in from MIVA left within seconds the first campaign. With the new campaign I figured out a better ways to engage the traffic and keep them on the site. One thing that really helped was selling the product with more visual content and asking for the sale.

After just 20 minutes my account balance was at zero. That sums up my first test run with AdOn Network. This network is part ppp and ppv. The company has a few different platforms for advertising. In my first test run I tried the full page pop up and regular AdWords type advertising. This is the price to pay for testing new traffic source. On this network I would run campaigns aimed at males 18 to 35. It seems that gaming and dating offers might work the best.

It’s to soon to say yes or no to AdOn, but I will give them another try with a different campaign and see what happens. Doing some research to find out if other have had any luck. Leave a comment if you have used AdOn Networks.

Many affiliates have been slapped by Google and seen their page scores lowered or campaign not show up. This is why it is very important to find other sources for your PPC traffic. There are many PPC networks and it makes it tough for me to recommend any particular network. It’s all based on your campaign and where the network gets the traffic. This is why testing is so important if you want to make money online. As we all know Google Adwords can be very  expensive and competitive. This is why you need to try new traffic and try to match your campaign to the the network. If you can contact the PPC network ask them where are your ad’s going to show and how does their fraud click policy work. You need to find out as much about any network you plan on working with. Look for reviews online and see what others are saying. You want to get a solid number of networks that can convert. This is why testing is important. If you do not test a network you will never know if the traffic they send is quality. You need to at least spend $25 to $100 to kind of get a feel for the traffic. When you find a network that seems provide quality traffic increase your spending and keep monitoring to make sure the traffic continue to be quality. There are some campaigns that I run that have done very well on second tier PPC networks and it has cost me less to acquire a sale then it would with Google Adwords. The bottom line is you need to test traffic and fit the traffic to your campaign.

  • What Time Of Day To Advertise On Google Adwords

When it comes to testing Google traffic you need to take into account the time of day your ads are running. With a few of my campaigns I have noticed one offer might convert during the day and another only at night. You should try playing around with when your ads run. The schedule feature in Google Adwords allows you to set when you want to run your ads, either by time or even days of the week. If you find that a certain offer seems to convert at a certain time then why waste clicks. The idea is to get your campaigns to match your audience. There is no point for certain types of campaigns to advertise during the day when everyone is at work. You might luck out and someone might be able to use the office computer to make a purchase, but why take a chance when perhaps all your traffic that converts might be in the prime time hours. If you can keep track of conversion and time of day from your current campaigns then it makes it easier to schedule. The scheduling of my campaigns has saved a lot of money and increased conversion.

The Miva PPC program is a simple to use pay per click network. Like Google Adwords you create your campaign and enter your keywords. The test for this review was done over  three different campaigns. The first saw the full deposit of $35.00 burnt in less then a few hours with no sales. The only thing that the clicks brought were a few AdSense clicks on the landing page. Not a sigle user bought the product which on Google has a great conversion rate. The second test was about the same, but with less clicks as it was a niche product.  The third campaign is still running, but it also looks like it might not be doing to well.

The reviews that I have come across for Miva are mixed some people swear that they made money and got tons of great traffic. Then there are people like me that have not converted any sales on campaigns that have worked well with other ppc networks.

Let’s see how the last offer works out. If I do not make any sales then I will not use Miva for any further campaigns.

March 30th, 2009AlexAffiliate Networks, Online Business, ppc

uk_flagSince I joined a few affiliate networks in the UK I have been very busy. This is a great market with lots of potential. The first step is to get a UK domain if you want UK traffic. The domain for my fist site cost about $22.00 at GoDaddy for 2 years. This is a lot more then I pay for .com or .info domains, but I think it will be more professional with my UK visitors to see a .co.uk domain. There is also an issue of trust most users rather see a domain in their native countries extension. The hosting is kept with GoDaddy so no extra expenses there. Once I get my site ready I will start a PPC campaign targeting only the UK. There are some smaller PPC networks that I am looking into. If any thing it is a lot of fun to create a campaign for a new market. You never know how your offers will do, but even if you get one sale it will feel great. Since I have so many other ideas to work on, I will devout a little time each day to make the UK sites work. Look for more post on my success or failure in the UK.
