One of the most important aspects of affiliate marketing is testing landing pages. I have to admit I am not expert and have learned how to do test the hard way. With PPC costing so much I did not want to leave my landing pages to chance. There are a few books on the topic and I found that Landing Page Optimization: The Definitive Guide to Testing and Tuning for Conversions by Tim Ash is a great book to get started. It will put you in the zone. With landing pages it is important to make small changes and measure results. This is what Tim Ash recommends in his book. You need to always be testing and keep track of the changes made.

If you are running a few affiliate campaigns and need more landing pages, here is a simple idea. What I do is get a domain name that can be generic like shophere.com and then I build a landing page for one of my campaigns. Then I create another campaign different product and so on. Then I add my individual campaign to a ppc network like Google Adwords. On my web space I can have the following:

http://www.shophere.com/ironmanposter.html

and so on.

This way I do not have to have a domain name for all my campaigns and can keep filling up this domain with new landing pages.

On the display URL of the ppc network you can put www.yourdomain.com most people will not remember or try to click to the main page. It is a good idea to have a link to all the offers on your domain on the main index page, just in case there is someone who tries to see what the main page looks like.

Last night I was working on a landing page for one of my affiliate offers. This page showed promise and on it’s second day converted into a sale. Since the first sale there have been many page views, but it has not turned into any further sales. Doing a little looking around the page I spotted a few opportunities to monetize the page and make money not only of the offer, but from Google Adsense. The sidebar on the page got a text Adsense unit in skyscraper.

This add’s a few more options for the customers to click on something. The top of the page I made the logo a clickable image that takes people to the affiliate offer, as well any other images on the site now link to the offer. The top of the page now has an urgency message to let people know they do not have much time to order before the holidays. There is also a link to a coupon code for a further discount on the purchase. These little changes should make a few more sales, or at least give me a little more Adsense revenue.
