If you need to use content from another web site and want to avoid a Google penalty you need to make a few changes first. When the Google bot visits your site and finds duplicate content it can de-list your site. This is why you want to make sure that you do not publish duplicate content on your web sites. If you need to use for an example a description of a product from the manufactures web site, you will need to change the wording first. It can be as simple as changing every few words or re-writing the whole description in your own words. It seems like a bit of trouble and effort, but take these measures can save your web site from being de-listed or penalized.

The more original content you have on your site that better for your standing in Google. There are time when duplicate content needs to be used. If you are quoting another source make sure you surround that content with your own, and make sure to identify the source of the content.

It’s an extra step you can’t skip if you want better ranking for your web site.

We have all seen pages with nothing but Google Adsense. You might think that these sites do not make much money or that they do not show up in the search engines. Well try searching for just about anything and one of these pages will show up. You get a page with very little information on the topic you searched for, but the rest of the pages has plenty of Adsense ad’s and they are all positioned in such away that most users will click thinking that the Adsense unit is part of the content. The trick is to blend Adsense into the content. Try a few searches and see if you can spot this type of site. The publisher of this type of site probably has many more just like the first. With each site getting clicks here and there and adding up to big money. You can play around and create your own site for Adsesne and see what works. Study other sites and get some ideas. You can hold up a big check like Shoemoney if you learn how to make Adsense work for your site. You need to do a little SEO in order to attract more traffic, but sometimes you can do little and still get a good amount of traffic.

  • Diversify Your Online Business

One thing I learned very early on with doing business online is to diversify. What I mean by diversify is to have more then one source of income online. If you do any affiliate marketing, then make sure the offers you run are available on more then one network. If for some reason an offer is pulled on one network then you have it on another network and do not lose your source of income. When I first started selling online I had a CD shop. All I sold was CD’s and this was fine for awhile, then Napster happened. You know what that did to my CD shop it almost put me out of business. Luckily this happened at the same time the DVD’s were taking of and I was able to move my business in that direction. As the trend for DVD’s died out I got into other items to sell online and realized that if you do not have more sources you can be out of business very quickly. Now when I set up a business I know the risk and I try to have more then one source of income. If something happens to one source I have a few more to make money online. If you follow the old saying don’t keep all your eggs in one basket you should do well online. Try to reach out to new sources of income, study trends and be ready to move when opportunity comes along. You do not want to miss new sources of income keep you a journal write down any ideas that come to mind. You want to get more back up plans ready to go as some of your businesses experience decline. If you follow this and make it a habit to have back up sources of income will not be without income when one of your business slows down or dies out.

As many web site owners know getting paid from Google can take awhile. If you have Google Adsense on your site you need to get $100 in clicks before you get a payout. It took me about two years to get $100 in clicks. The addition of Adsense on a few of my web sites was just an extra way to monetize, as I already had other ways to make money from the sites in place.  If I had created sites just to make money with Adsense then I would have made a little more effort to maximize the site to ensure more clicks. One thing I did learn is that if you can make sites with keywords with a good payout, you can make a lot of money with Adsense. There are other PPC networks that you can try like Bidvertiser or 7 Search, but you might not get ad’s that are relevant to your niche. With the first payout on the way I would like to try to create more site and use Google Adsense as the only method of making money. Once my payment does arrive I will just toss it back into my Google Adwords account and try to make more money with my affiliate offers.

The changes made on this blog today was to optimize for Google. The plugins for WordPress made setting up all my different Google services very easy. Did the same for my other blog and also worked on some of my sites to make sure they were all properly optimized for Google. The sites that I have worked on in the last few weeks have seen big numbers in page views, so I want to make sure all my sites are done by the end of this month. A few sites are very dependent on the Holidays, and will not make many sales after so I need to make sure Google can find them and I am also using PPC on one of the sites.
