About two months ago I took on a part time job. It was a quick way to save some money to start a new business. With my online business still making money and it does not need much attention the extra income from the job can be saved. There are some big goals that I have set for myself. The true entrepreneurial dream was for a real world business. With the cost of starting a real world business in a brink and mortar shop this dream had been placed on hold. As I realized that I am not getting any younger I started to dream up some ideas and get a plan in motion. The first step is to write a business plan and have a road map of where I want this business to go. Once I have set the goal I need to do all the legal work to make this a real business. The math I crunched brought me to a grand total of $35,000 to get started. This is the amount of money I need to pay rent and stock the business. As a new start up I will try to do all the work myself or ask some friends for help. The addition of employees would cost way to much for the first few month of business. As I grow the business I will add employees, but first I need to just get this thing going. The idea is to keep the business a bare as possible till I can prove that it will make money and then grow from there. There are many more steps to setting up a real world business. It makes my online business look so simple. With my online business it was very easy to set up and maintain with little effort. If anything I want to learn from taking this dream and turning it into reality. If I fail then I now know what I will need to set up another real world business. Many people say that the economy is tough and that I will lose my shirt, but that can be said about any type of business. The fact is that even in the worst economic times new business have been started and succeed. Now its my time to make a go of it. The fun part is that I am going to document my effort and share it on this blog as I move forward. Since the first step is getting the funding it might take a little longer before I can make and real headway in my effort.

This is the time of the year we all think about the past year and set goals for the New Year. Last year I did start the year with some solid goals which I manage to complete. There were also a few goals I did not achieve. Keeping this in mind I wanted to work on a list of goals that I would be able to work towards.

The goal list includes all your standard goals like make more money and live a healthier lifestyle. If you are working on your goal list make the first few easy this will keep you motivated. The tougher goals should be challenging, but there must be some chance of accomplishing them.

If you are able to work on your goals and accomplish a good number of goals on your list, then you are on your way to a great year.

If one of your goals is to own an expensive sports car it might go on your long term goal list. The idea is to at least work towards your goals. If you have a goal list as a roadmap you are going to get much further than those who do not have a solid roadmap.

This is why I like to set goals each year. With a list of goals I know where I want to go for the next year or for the long term.

Set your goals and start working on them make this the best year of your life.

With the holidays fast approaching it’s time to look ahead. The amount of work I was able to get done in 2009 exceeded my goals. The year started with a whole lot of learning. There were new markets that I wanted to enter and had no clue how to proceed. The difference between me and others, is that I kept at it until I had learned what I had set out to learn.

There are many projects that I am working on for 2010 and goals that I have set for myself. Looking at the past and what I have been able to do, there is no reason I can not accomplish my goals.

With the amount of time I spend online to make money I risk not having a meaningful life. On average to make money online I need to spend about 15 hours a day in front of my computer. A few months ago I bought a Sony eBook reader. This has to be one of the coolest gadgets that I have ever bought. As an avid reader I love the fact that I can download eBooks from the Sony Store Online in seconds. This does take the joy out of visiting my local book store, but it’s so convenient.

The Sony eBook reader is not only an eBook reader, but also a picture viewer and MP3 Player. The sound from the MP3 player is fantastic one of the best players that I have ever tested. You can listen to music while you read, but the controls are a little odd. If Sony could have made a better interface to control the music while reading, I would use the MP3 player a lot more. The picture viewer is just an extra it has no real value as the picture are shown in black and white.The unit also comes in brown leather cover. The cover helps protect the screen and it looks great.

The main reason to buy this item was to read books. As an eBook reader it is amazing with a screen true to a real book. The ink technology used makes reading on the device very easy on the eyes. It’s almost like reading a real book. You might notice a little difference at first and pages take a few seconds to load, but other wise it very close to reading a real book. At present I have over 1000 eBooks loaded on the memory card (It takes SD and Memory Stick plus built in memory). The unit also includes software to connect the device to the Sony eBook Store and to transfer your files. The software is sort of like iTunes for the iPod. The software was very easy to use and I found the whole process of buying a book and uploading it to the device painless. This is a great device and if you love to read you will not be disappointed. The Amazon Kindle is also highly recommended as an eBook reader, but it was not available in Canada. Overall I am very happy with this device and look forward to reading many eBooks on it.

The growth of your online business depends on how much effort you put in. If you are running affiliate sites you should grow your business one site at a time.
