A few days ago I downloaded the Art of Money Getting by PT Barnum. For those who do not know who PT Barnum was he is famous for starting a circus and for museums that featured performers such as the smallest man and the bearded lady. His showmanship brought in many visitors to his entertainment businesses. PT Barnum also wrote a few books. The one I read was written over 100 years ago, but the principles are still true today. If you want to be a business man or woman and you want success, then take a minute to download this book it 100% free as a public domain work. There is so much in the book that still holds true today. In one section Barnum writes that to be rich a man must stay away from alcohol and other mind changing drugs. He goes on to say that if a many can not clearly think then how is he to take advantage of an idea if his mind is in a unclear state.

There is one thing I like and that is FREE STUFF. A few weeks ago my mother in law was given an old computer with Windows 98 on it. Since I am the computer guru in the family, I went over and took a look at this old beast the computer not the mother in law. The computer was fast enough to handle a Linux distro and I thought I would try Ubuntu Linux which is 100% free. This worked out well and the computer worked without a hitch. The nice thing about Linux is that everything you need is include. You get a web browser (Firefox) and Open Office the alternative to Microsoft Office. This is a perfect solution for an older computer and to install on an older persons system who only need the basics. In the past I have saved a few older computers with Linux.   Also ran a business form an old computer while I was shopping for a new Apple iMac. If you have an old computer sitting around why not try to install some sort of Linux on it and get more use out of your old hardware.

If anyone one is looking for a great free ecommerce shopping cart program then try Zen Cart.  Many web hosting companies already offer this program for quick install I have it running a few different hosting accounts and it was simple to set up. The price of the software is zero, but you are getting a professional package, I have paid for shopping cart programs and services in the past and nothing came close to Zen Cart. You can offer promo codes place items on sales and it work well with paypal. Since you can use paypal you do not need to set up a merchant account to get started. The first shop I set up was up and running in about 2 hours. Once you figure out the shipping costs and set up the payment getway you are ready to go live and take orders. You also get marketing support, people can sign up for news letters and the side bars display current promotions. There are also many free themes that you can install to get the right look for your store. There is a great free site for creating your own web site. The fine folks at www.jimdo.com let you set up a free page with just about anything legal on it. There are many styles to pick from and you can add html and changes things around a bit. The best part is not only is it free, but it is very google friendly.

The ease  of use is just fantastic. Playing around with the Jimdo setting and a few minutes later I had this page up and running My Online Jean’s Store

Still a work in progress, but it show you the power of the Jimdo platform. If you want your own domain they offer a $5.00 a month plan with pro hosting. Now I have my mind filled with ideas for Jimdo pages.

They say there is nothing free, well I found this offer for free magazine subscriptions. The magazines offered are business and IT computer related.
