It’s been a few months since I stopped selling on eBay. It was a matter of the fee’s being higher then then the amount of money being made. With the cost of shipping and eBay fee’s I could no longer be at a profit by selling on eBay. When I was at my peak and there was less competition for the items I was selling, the money was pouring in. In the last year many sellers from Asia have started to dry up sales for my niche. Still not sure how they make money, but the Asian sellers are able to sell a product cheap and pay shipping and eBay fee’s and still manage to make money. As my sales on eBay dried up my fee’s were higher then what I was making in profit. It was not easy stop selling on eBay, but I managed to make money online in different ways. It is always better to have your eggs in a few different baskets. You never know when an income source will dry out. Without eBay I had to figure away to get rid of some slow moving stock. If I had to give advice to Canadian sellers I would say stop selling on Ebay and move to another market place. You can even start your own online store and advertise with Google Adwords, and it would cost you less then paying Ebay Fee’s. The Canadian Revenue Agency has killed Ebay Canada and small business efforts across the country. The government forgets that the Ebay sellers will use the money earned back in the Canadian economy and taxes would be collected at that time. Greed is a bad thing wish the government of Canada would reconsider this action, it is going to change a lot of families’ lives. In this economy this was a bad move. Oh Canada we step down from Ebay.

Ebay New Offer 5 FREE Listings

There is a new promotion from eBay that will give you 5 free auction style listings per month. There will be fees charged for selling an item as usual, but you will not have to pay to list your auction. On the surface this looks like a great promotion and shows that eBay is feeling a pinch with the economy.

There was this fine print at the bottom of the offer that left me a little baffled:
“*Excludes items with a Start/Buy It Now/Reserve price of $18 million and above.”
Are there many eBay sellers with a reserve price of $18 million?

This is great news for eBay sellers and if you have an item to list that sells for more then $500 then you stand to save $4.00 per listing. There were a few items that I was thinking of putting up on eBay and now this gives me a little incentive to get my listings running.
