The Samsung Galaxy S has a great size display for reading eBooks. With the larger screen reading an eBook is not hard on the eyes. The two eBook reader apps I tied were Amazon’s Kindle and Kobo. These eBook apps were easy to use and had a large selection of books. If you want to read on the go then this is a cheap alternative to buying a dedicated eBook reader. With a smartphone running Android you can start reading in under a minute. The Amazon Kindle app was a bit better then the Kobo app, the pages turned with just a swipe on the Amazon app. With the Kobo app I found I had to swipe the screen a few times to get the page to turn.
The book stores for both services carried a large number of books. The Amazon Kindle store did have better pricing. The price was constant at $9.99 which I found to be a fair price for an eBook. The Kobo store also had many titles starting at $9.99, but it seemed they did price a little higher then Amazon. If you buy a Samsung Galaxy S then make sure to test out these apps. You can find many free books in both stores and they download very quickly to you phone via wifi or 3G.Qwest High-Speed Internet starting at $19.99 with phone bundle
The Adobe PDF reader is also available for smartphones running Android. The next test will be to read eBook that I downloaded in PDF format. Overall I was very happy with my reading experiment on the Samsung Galaxy S and would buy more books. It took just a few days to read a full book on the Samsung Galaxy S about the same amount of time that it takes to read an eBook on my Sony Reader. One thing I liked about having an eBook reader app on my phone was that I could read when I had some spare time. It’s nice to pull out the smartphone and start reading while waiting for an oil change or in line for coffee.

The most difficult task for many adults is to manage money. If only schools spent just a little more time on educating children on the value of money. We need to make an effort to teach children at a young age how to handle money. It starts at home with the family and with support from the education system we can prepare the next generation to avoid getting into credit problems. There is not a single class on handling credit in high school, but yet there are many classes on subjects we will never use. Is the system set up so people will fail? Why is credit not made an important part of our educational system?
There are many people of influence that might not want this type of education in our schools. It wrong to not prepare kids for the future. If you have children you need to teach them about credit and the good and bad about borrowing money.THE CAT IN the Hat puts to rest any notion that money grows on trees in this super simple look at numismatics, the study of money and its history. Beginning with the ancient practice of bartering, the Cat explains various forms of money used in different cultures, from shells, feathers, leather, and jade to metal ingots to coins (including the smallest—the BB-like Indian fanam—and the largest—the 8-foot-wide, ship-sinking limestone ones from the Islands of Yap!), to the current king of currency, paper. Also included is a look at banking, from the use of temples as the first banks to the concept of gaining or paying interest, and a step-by-step guide to minting coins. A fascinating introduction is bound to change young reader’s appreciation for change!

March 11th, 2010BooksThe following is a paid review and is completely of my own opinion and is not influenced by being paid. If you’re interested in having me review your site or product, please view my advertising page.
The secret to success if knowledge. The more you know the better your chances to succeed. If you look at people who have succeed they have gained as much knowledge as they could in their topic of interest. It’s no surprise when a person devours so much information that at some point they will be successful.A method I use to gain knowledge is to read Textbooks . You might find that a little boring, but there is much to learn from text books.
The nice thing is that you can find used text books on any subject for a very low price. The poor student who had to pay for the textbook might not have even been interested in the subject, but you are going to do something with the information. There are millions of Used Textbooks For Sale that you can learn from. You do not have to be a student to take advantage of the information.
There are many textbooks on the subject of marketing and sales. If you have an online business these topics are very helpful to promote your business. If you study marketing it will open many more doors and your business will grow. Everything we buy has been marketed in one way or another. You should look for textbooks that can help your business. Another great topic for online marketers is social studies and sociology. Learn about people find out what people desire and your business will grow. This is the magic of reading and self teaching you new ideas.

As a Canadian there are few choices for eBook readers. It was nice to find the Mybebook eBook reader as it is a great choice for those who can not afford a Sony or Amazon eBook reader. The Mybebook supports many formats and you can buy many ebooks online that will work with the device. When you buy a Mybebook you also get a large selection of free titles.
The screen is e-ink and looks sharp and crisp. If you want an alternative to the other eBook readers on the market then this is a great choice. As many readers on this site know I love eBooks and am excited at the development of this new format for reading books.
Supported file formats including the popular PDF, ePub, MS Word (.doc), Mobipocket** and other text formats.

As many of my Twitter followers know I love eBooks. Since I bought my Sony Reader last year the device has become such an important part of my day. As an avid reader I spend a good few hours a day with my Sony Reader. Now I know the price might be a little high for a Sony Reader or the Amazon Kindle. This is where the Aluratek Libre comes in. This unit is sold at Costco in Canada and through many online stores. The price in Canada is $169 which over all is a great price. The Aluratek does not use e-ink like the other readers. This unit uses an LCD display that does a very good job at making the page look like a real book page. As a Sony Reader user I would say the Sony screen is much better and almost seems like you are reading a real book. The Aluratrek LCD display is not as good.
You can also play mp3′s with the unit and look at pictures. As for eBook this unit does not have it’s own store and titles have to be purchased from eBook stores that support the formats of the eBook reader. When I checked online the prices of eBooks are more expensive from the stores recommended by the manufacturer. You will not get the same amount of eBooks as available with Sony or Amazon. You can read PDF’s and many common eBook formats, but buying digital rights copies of books is limited to a few trusted sites.
My overall impression of the Aluratek eBook Reader is that at this price it makes a nice starter eBook reader. If you can get free PDF eBooks online then this unit is going to make it easy to travel with your eBooks and get some reading done. If you like best sellers then buy the Sony Reader or Amazon Kindle. Until an eBook store is built that supports all the different readers, I would recommend staying with the leaders.
At least if you buy a Sony or Amazon eBook reader you know you will find many titles to buy.
Nice eBook reader, but without it’s own market place you are taking a chance at what you will be able to read on this unit.

September 4th, 2009BooksWant to grow your blog or web site traffic? Well there is a great book called The New Rules of Marketing and PR: How to Use News Releases, Blogs, Podcasting, Viral Marketing and Online Media to Reach Buyers Directly. This book with the super long title is a guide on using social media to grow your business. No matter if it’s your personal blog or a business site that you need to market, this book teaches you how to do it.
Official Press Review:
Though it may not yet have affected the value of 30 seconds of Super Bowl advertising, PR insider Scott argues that understanding the growing irrelevance of marketing’s “old rules” is vital to thriving in the new media jungle. Already apparent in newspapers and magazines (with sharp downturns in circulation and ads), radio (on the losing end of the iPod revolution) and direct mail (digitally replaced by spam), the imminent fall of traditional mass media marketing means new opportunities for legions of smaller companies and independent professionals who need to reach niche markets cheaply and effectively. The way Scott sees it, this is also good news for consumers: the online culture of integrity and information tends to produce quality content for less, as opposed to the vapid, one-sided and pricey advertising of print media and television. Scott provides the technical novice a thoughtful and accessible guide to cutting-edge media arenas and formats such as RSS, vodcasts and viral marketing, without neglecting the fact that technological wizardry can’t substitute for a well-thought out marketing program. Besides emphasizing fundamentals like defining one’s audience, Scott also drills home the ethos and etiquette of the web, encouraging content that’s both useful and unobtrusive. This excellent look at the basics of new-millennial marketing should find use in the hands of any serious PR professional making the transition.

The past couple months my summer reading consisted of books on SEO and marketing online. The amount of information that I was able to learn from my summer reading is already starting to pay off. In this new age of Internet marketing every little piece of information counts. With Twitter and Facebook being sites that have a huge potential to bring traffic to your web sites, you need to know how to capture this traffic source. If you are serious about getting quality traffic to your site then start reading. You need to know what to do and how to do it. There are many web sites that can provide you with quality information, but sometimes a good old fashion book on the subject is the best learning tool. One book that caught my attention this summer was Inbound Marketing: Get Found Using Google, Social Media, and Blogs By Brian Halligan. This book will help with the following:
• Improve your rankings in Google to get more traffic

May 5th, 2009Advertising, Affiliate Networks, Books, Cool Stuff, Free Stuff, Goal Setting, Google Adwords, Home Office, Online BusinessA few months ago I bought a Sony eBook reader. This has to be one of the coolest gadgets that I have ever bought. As an avid reader I love the fact that I can download eBooks from the Sony Store Online in seconds. This does take the joy out of visiting my local book store, but it’s so convenient.

The eBook reader cost me $279.99 at the Sony Store. The salesperson marked it down as I missed a sale a few weeks prior. The unit is solid it feels well made and it is very light weight. In comparison to a real book, you will notice the difference between the eBook Reader and for example a book like Snowball which is 800 pages long. The Sony eBook reader is not only an eBook reader, but also a picture viewer and MP3 Player. The sound from the MP3 player is fantastic one of the best players that I have ever tested. You can listen to music while you read, but the controls are a little odd. If Sony could have made a better interface to control the music while reading, I would use the MP3 player a lot more. The picture viewer is just an extra it has no real value as the picture are shown in black and white. The unit also comes in brown leather cover. The cover helps protect the screen and it looks great.

The main reason to buy this item was to read books. As an eBook reader it is amazing with a screen true to a real book. The ink technology used makes reading on the device very easy on the eyes. It’s almost like reading a real book. You might notice a little difference at first and pages take a few seconds to load, but other wise it very close to reading a real book. At present I have over 1000 eBooks loaded on the memory card (It takes SD and Memory Stick plus built in memory). The unit also includes software to connect the device to the Sony eBook Store and to transfer your files. The software is sort of like iTunes for the iPod. The software was very easy to use and I found the whole process of buying a book and uploading it to the device painless. This is a great device and if you love to read you will not be disappointed. The Amazon Kindle is also highly recommended as an eBook reader, but it was not available in Canada. Overall I am very happy with this device and look forward to reading many eBooks on it.
