Affiliate Summit has just wrapped up, and many affiliates have walked away with information that is going to make them money.

Even if you did not make it to Affiliate Summit there is going to be a lot of blog posts with topics covered at the event. If you search around you will find some great ideas that others are going to share online.  Just reading a few of my favorite blogs I already discovered an affiliate network that I was not aware existed, and today I signed up for this network. The next Affiliate Summit takes place this summer in New York and I would recommend that you attend if you have the chance. No other convention brings together so many players in the industry. You are able to network and find new way of generating money online.

Clickbooth – Make Money!

The affiliate marketing industry had some major changes in 2009. These changes forced many to re-think they way they market online. With new FTC rules and Google banning affiliate Adwords accounts it’s become a whole new ball game.

Going forward into 2010 affiliate marketers will have to adapt to these changes. With a major traffic source like Adwords turned off testing new traffic should be a priority. If you have some sites that did well with PPC you might want to try SEO and getting natural search results.

If you can’t advertise on Google at least get your sites to get index and enjoy some free traffic even if it’s just a small drip. Thinking outside the box is going to make many rich in 2010 just as it has in the past. If you test traffic and different offers you might hit the jackpot. You never know what offer or traffic source is going to work. Keep trying new things and split test your offers.

The fact is you might lose a bit of money coming out of the gate, but if you test enough you will find a profitable campaign. It’s not going to be easy to make the same amount of money with all these new rules, but you can comply and keep at it. Way before Google was around people made money online and just because you do not have this traffic source don’t give up.

Keep reading forum posts ask questions and track down new ideas to promote your sites. Its funny how many sources I found since my Adwords account was banned. In an industry that changes as much as affiliate marketing you need to have back up plans.

Again I will say it diversify your online business. Never count on any one thing being around forever. If you diversify you at least know some money is coming from another source. Now go get ready to kill it online in 2010.

Soon after the King of Pop died there were tons of offers online. The networks are also starting to have some new Michael Jackson related offers. If you are creative there is a lot of money to be made. The search term Michael Jackson is getting so many hits each day. The trend bar on Twitter shows MJ as a top trend for almost three weeks now. This is going to grow as new music is released and old concerts play on television. With this type of affiliate marketing you might to rank naturally for the term and save your PPC dollars. If you can create quality content it is going to bring traffic for years to come. There were so many aspects to Michael Jackson’s life that a clever affiliate can mint coin. Now it does seem a little morbid to cash in on dead celebrity, but it’s also a fact that with demand someone has to fill it. Just yesterday I was at Wal-Mart and they had posters with MJ date of death. If Wal-Mart can cash in then you know there is money on the table that you have a right to collect. If you are going to do a PPC campaign then you might want to try Facebook or Bing. The price for Google might be sky high with all the offers out now.

The best thing about being your own boss with affiliate marketing is your free time. When you start out you need to work harder then you ever did at your last job, but you can make things easy. If you automate your most common tasks like email and writing content imagine how much spare time you would have. Don’t get me wrong I do like the tasks that are part of my business, but some things I might not care for as much. The FCC is going after sites that are promoting grant offers. If you are running these affiliate offers you might want to pull them. The offers promise people a grant for a small fee of about $1.95 for a CD with info. Once the customer sends in the credit card information they are enrolled in a $50.00 a month resource center with little value.  It’s just not worth it making money from these offers. You could wake up to find a TV reporter crew on your front door.
