It’s nice to be able to take thousands of pictures and store them on a memory card. The problem is that unlike the old days you do not have a paper copy or negatives to reprint. With a back up copy of your pictures on an external media and online at least your are covered if you need to restore your pictures. Having your pictures online also allows you to share photos with friends and family.
