It was a tense few moments today as I tired to upgrade to WordPress 2.8 and was horrified to not being able to get back to my admin. The upgrade seemed to have worked, and then tragedy struck. There was a fatal error message. I thought I had lost everything on this blog. What a nightmare to have to relocate everything from Google cache pages or to re-write the whole site. If anything I learned today to back up your WordPress database and to make sure you check the WordPress site for any known issues. Very happy to have the site back up and avoid all the hassles of having to re-do this site.

There has to be a way to cash in on Jon and Kate divorcing. If you look at all the major news portals. This is the big story. After releasing statements to PEOPLE magazine the story is spreading all over the internet. As a marketer what opportunities are there? It is a bad situation for this family and I am not endorsing taking advantage of their problems. What a marketer can do is use this situation to promote positive campaigns that would be of interest to fans of the Jon and Kate plus 8 reality show.

The news has come out about Steve Jobs founder and CEO of Apple Computers recent liver transplant. It looks like Steve Jobs had a transplant about two months ago in Tennessee. The waiting list for donors is considerably shorter in Tennessee. If this transplant was a result of his previous fight with cancer, getting a transplant is good news. As a transplant on patients with metastatic cancer that has spread outside the liver, would not be performed. If you look at all Steve Jobs has accomplished in his life the world is a better place for his innovations. Anyone who uses Apple computers or an iPod has already felt how grateful they are to Apple and Steve Jobs for bringing out such advance products that work. Let’s hope that his surgery went well and that we will have Steve Jobs back at Apple to innovate the next amazing thing.

This is a given you need content. Without great content there is no reason for anyone to visit your site.
The idea here is to have articles that are 250 words and up. You do not need more then a thousand words. The content is there to give your readers and the search engines a reason to visit your site. If you have an article with related keywords you will be more visible to the search engines for your niche. If you have for example a page about dogs then try to use words that relate to your subject. If you just use the keyword dog then you will be less likely to be at the top of the search results.  If you change it a more specific term like “how to care for a boxer” then you will be indexed for that term. If there are not many pages with this term then your page is going to show up in the results. This should be your goal to get content index.

When the guys from Google started to figure out how a search engine should index pages, one idea they came up with was based on how research papers were credited. When a paper is written the researcher will credit an authority used for the research. The idea was to do the same with search. When many pages link back to one site it shows authority for that site. When you get many sites linking back and manage to get other authority sites linking back you now will rank higher in the search engines. You can get links back from social bookmark sites or ask other sites to link back to your site. This is a very important step in SEO it pays to do research and get as much information about getting links back to your site. It is also a good idea for your site to link to authority sites. The might add a few extra points to getting better rank.

Keywords:

When you start writing content for your site keep in mind the keywords you want to rank for. It might not be possible to get some of the popular keywords as many authority sites might be much more relevant to the search engines. You want to build a list of keywords and then start placing these words in your content. If you can at least rank for a few keywords then you might start to show up in higher position in the search rank. The search engines also look for relevant words and phrases. The better your keywords blend with your content the more chance ofproviding better content for your audience and the search engines.

These are just a few tips that can help with you SEO efforts. With time you should see results. The search engines will crawl your site and you will be ready.

Ebay New Offer 5 FREE Listings

There is a new promotion from eBay that will give you 5 free auction style listings per month. There will be fees charged for selling an item as usual, but you will not have to pay to list your auction. On the surface this looks like a great promotion and shows that eBay is feeling a pinch with the economy.

There was this fine print at the bottom of the offer that left me a little baffled:
“*Excludes items with a Start/Buy It Now/Reserve price of $18 million and above.”
Are there many eBay sellers with a reserve price of $18 million?

This is great news for eBay sellers and if you have an item to list that sells for more then $500 then you stand to save $4.00 per listing. There were a few items that I was thinking of putting up on eBay and now this gives me a little incentive to get my listings running.

There are many make money online web sites, some are good and some are bad. The list is made up of the top 5 sites that I find myself visiting on a daily basis.

The honest posts from the site admins makes me return to these blogs. I am not looking for post with perfect grammar all I want is information that makes sense. There are bloggers out there who claim to have high standards, yet all they post about is paid reviews. When you find a site that is constantly doing paid reviews you might want to move on. The sites on the list try to provide great content for those trying to make money online. It’s alright if a blogger mentions a product or service they use, and link to it with their affiliate id. We all have to make a living. What is not alright is taking advantage of newcomers to the industry.

He has visited some of the networks in New York City and interviewed account managers, which help other affiliates get a better understanding of what is required to make money in this business. There are many videos on YouTube from Ian and quick lessons on many affiliate related interests. Great work Ian it was a toss up for first place.
3. http://zacjohnson.com/ Zac is a long time affiliate marketer and very respected in the industry. His blog provides many helpful articles for those trying to make money with affiliate marketing. There are some paid reviews, but Zac has class and evens it out with great content. If you want to understand affiliate marketing then Zac’s years of experience can really help you.

It was a very busy week for me with all my seo reading, I took out every book I could find on SEO from my local library. Some of the information I read I had already found on the internet, and have been applying it for some time. The number one tip I found in all the books I read was building links from other sites that are an authority to your niche. There are some good ideas and tips, but most of the information is already on the internet. If you type in SEO for a search you are going to find pretty much everything in these books. These books did bring some insight as why to take certain actions to get a site ready for SEO. In the end I would say that if you can get the books from your local library then do it. If you had to go out and buy all these books, it might be a better idea to try to skim through them at the book store. This will give you chance to decide if you should buy one book over the other.
