If you are a seller on eBay then you should do everything you can to promote other offers to your customers. As per eBay rules you can not promote other offers outside eBay on the eBay site. What you can do is once you have a customer you can promote offers to them when you prepare your packages. This can be as simple as inserting a flyer with a link to another web site you have. The best use of this method is to try to cross promote offers that are somehow related to what you sold on eBay. If you can do this you will increase the number sales to your related site or offer.

    Simple tools to use:

Buy some cheap business card paper, you can even buy these at the dollar stores. Then print out what information you want your customer to take action on.

You can also buy stickers or other promotional stationary that can be cost effective to lead your eBay customer to your other offers.

If you get their email you can also ask them if it is alright to send them related information when you have a new offers. This is a great way to start building a marketing list.

Customers do not mind this type of promotion and you can use it to start gaining extra sales.

With eBay you do not need to just sell customers the products you list, you can also use eBay to gain new sales for your other offers. Take advantage of this type of advertising as it costs next to nothing.

When I was growing up it was a highlight to find a Columbia House flyer in the mail. The penny sale got me in trouble a few times, but I did get all the best albums out at the time. It always amazed me that Columbia House would mail a 12 year old kid a bunch of records for free and expect the kid to pay. In most cases my mom gave me the money to buy the required records and fulfill the contract. Then a few months would pass and I would re-join and start the process all over. It was a surprise to me the other day to find out that Columbia House is still in business, but selling DVD’s. I guess iTunes and MP3 players killed their music business. If you want to relive the old times you might want to visit their web site. Thanks Columbia House for all the great albums and for the memories.

barnumptetext05barnm10-thumbA few days ago I downloaded the Art of Money Getting by PT Barnum. For those who do not know who PT Barnum was he is famous for starting a circus and for museums that featured performers such as the smallest man and the bearded lady. His showmanship brought in many visitors to his entertainment businesses. PT Barnum also wrote a few books. The one I read was written over 100 years ago, but the principles are still true today. If you want to be a business man or woman and you want success, then take a minute to download this book it 100% free as a public domain work. There is so much in the book that still holds true today. In one section Barnum writes that to be rich a man must stay away from alcohol and other mind changing drugs. He goes on to say that if a many can not clearly think then how is he to take advantage of an idea if his mind is in a unclear state.

The book is not that long I think on my ebook reader it was about 24 pages.  Download this today and when you finish reading post a comment on how you feel about this book and the ideas are they still relevant to today.

Today I was looking for any books by PT Barnum, yes the circus guy. As a business man there is a lot to study from Barnum’s writing. I will post more about Barnum in a future post, now back to my eBay story.  In the listings I found some one selling a PT Barnum book and contacted the seller to find out how much it would cost to ship to Canada. The seller wrote back and said it was a pdf ebook and was selling it for $2.99 which is cheap except this is a free ebook anyone can download from public domain ebook sites. After getting the reply I did a search and download my copy for free. I am not sure what this seller is doing is right since this is a free work that anyone can download. The it can also be a smart way to make some extra money. There are many people who are buying ebook readers and are willing to pay for ebooks to add to their reader. If you are looking for a product to sell on eBay then you might want to try a few ebooks and see how it goes. Most free ebooks are in the public domain and are very old, but I guess some people might search for them as I did.

Tired of struggling with the plastic packaging I know I am. Every week I buy at least one item that comes in a plastic package that is so difficult to open that I fear I am going to lose a finger with a knife or regular scissors. Then this week my Package Shark plastic package opener arrived. This thing works well, just slide the Package Shark around the plastic packaging and and your done. No lost fingers and you can use your item right away. This is perfect for all us gadget loving people who keep getting items in that crazy plastic. I love this item, I think I am going out to buy some more gadgets so I can enjoy opening them up with my new Package Shark!redesign_rt_081201_12

The last few weeks have seen many of my sales on eBay not be credited in paypal. The transactions were showing as claim payment which for the life of me I had no idea why this was happening. After using the live chat feature with two eBay customers service agents I now understand the problem. It seems on some of the auction that I re-list, the paypal address was an old email address I was using on eBay a few years ago. I am not sure how this address was showing up as the main payment email. It was causing the problem, so after about an hour of going into every listing and making sure that the right email was there I thought I had the problem fixed. Then I got a new sale, the sale is showing a print ship label which in eBay talk meant that the payment cleared paypal and I can ship the item. Wrong, the system is showing ship payment and did not post the funds to my account. Now what this means is if I did not have a second income for my affiliate business I would be very screwed until eBay is able to fix my problem. It’s been a good run with eBay, but as a seller I am not happy with their service and might have to find other ways to sell online. With Craigslist and other sites for free, it might be a good time to try new things and end the frustration.

    February 7th, 2009AlexAffiliate Networks

Many readers ask me what do I do to make money online. As a full time affiliate marketer I use many different networks to find merchants to promote and make money. It is as simple as joining a program and start looking for offers to promote.

Here are my top affiliate networks and I am happy to share them with you.

    Market Leverage:

One of the best networks that I belong to. As you can see from all the banners on this site, I really like them. The staff is fantastic and I started to make money right away with them. You have any questions your account manager is very quick to respond. One very nice thing that they also have is videos to guide you and teach methods to increase your income as an affiliate. If you are thinking about being a serious affiliate then join their program first.

    Pepper Jam Networks:

The Pepper Jam program is perfect for those who want to create niche stores. With their store builder you can tap into thousands of products to offer your site visitors. The Pepper Jam store builder can even be used on your blog and help you monetize your site. It only took me 2 weeks to earn my fist commission through Pepper Jam Networks. The staff at Pepper Jam are very helpful and can guide you with your marketing efforts. You can also get $10.00 just for joining what else can you ask for in a affiliate network.

    PJN Promo

    Never Blue:

The Never Blue affiliate network is similar to Market Leverage in some of the offers accept they pay less on some offers. There are many great offer that can make you money. The company is located in Canada and is well respected in the affiliate marketing community. There are many free submit offers that can start earning you a small fortune right away. The staff is also very helpful and respond right way to your requests. The site is easy to use and getting offers up and running is a breeze.

In a future post I will cover a few other affiliate networks I use, but that do not bring in as much money as the sites in this post.

    February 7th, 2009AlexEbay

The last few days I have been stuck in a eBay Paypal glitch on one of my eBay accounts. At the end of January eBay changed the my eBay page which caused the glitch. What is happening is that when some one pays me for an item in my eBay it is asking me to claim the funds from Paypal. when I click through and try to collect the funds there is nothing showing the sale in Paypal. After about five sales sitting there in this state, I contacted eBay. It seems they do not know what the problem is and it is only causing a problem on one of my accounts.

I was told to change my Paypal email address in eBay to another email address I use for Paypal. So far I am not sure if this fixed the problem since I have not had a sale to test the reps theory. If anyone else is having this problem please leave a comment.

Since this is a short month, I have been trying to make as much money as I can at the start of the month. This way if the end of the moth tanks then I have enough to cover the expenses for the month. This is a great way to actually work your online business. Try to start the month as strong as possible and then you do not have to stress it so much at the end of the month. Get cracking and make as much as you can this month.
