When I was growing up it was a highlight to find a Columbia House flyer in the mail. The penny sale got me in trouble a few times, but I did get all the best albums out at the time. It always amazed me that Columbia House would mail a 12 year old kid a bunch of records for free and expect the kid to pay. In most cases my mom gave me the money to buy the required records and fulfill the contract. Then a few months would pass and I would re-join and start the process all over. It was a surprise to me the other day to find out that Columbia House is still in business, but selling DVD’s. I guess iTunes and MP3 players killed their music business.
