Today the blog got a new theme. This theme works much better with the information in the blog. There are some new features added and RSS is now working. It was very simple to change the theme and get everything running the way it should.

The next few days I will be adding more content and make a few more changes. You got to love WordPress it is the easiest blogging software around and with so many plugins you can do almost anything with this platform.

If you are serious about making money on line then you will need to apply to some of the affiliate networks. The one I am using for many of my site is LinkShare.com they have all the top brands and thousands of products that you can promote online and make money. There is no cost to join link share and once you are approved all you need to do is add the links for the programs you have joined on your web site. It is a great start for all new affiliate’s and for those looking for large amount or programs to promote.

That’s right I am both, the sites I create are done on both platforms. Why do I need 2 systems? Well to start I use the Mac because it is secure and less problems occur. The Mac is my main computer and the one I am using write now to write this post. Here is a breakdown of what I use each computer for:

Those are the top uses for my computers. The PC is also connected to the HDTV sometimes and I use it also with my Xbox 360.

Now which do I prefer, as a Mac Fanboy I must say I get a lot of work done on the Mac. It has been a steady work horse and never given me any problems. The PC fits in for the odd task I can not get done on the Mac or can not find software. In Canada there is hardly and tax software, so the PC is a must at tax time.

In most case many households have more then one PC, so why not have both and get the best each system has to offer.

Side note I also have a EEE PC Laptop with Linux which I use for travel and to go down to my local Starbucks.

The use of My Space for advertising has been around for awhile. The profile pages have been used for promoting all sorts of things. Many musicians use My Space for their new music and concerts. The site has also been used by small business owners for promoting all sorts of products and service, but I found a new way to advertise on My Space. They also offer a Adwords type program.

The cost for keywords will be a little less then Adwords, but response rates might not be as high as on Googles platform. There are a few sites I will be promoting by setting up ad’s on My Space. In order to measure the success rate I will try to limit the ad’s to one product that I am not promoting on any other ad network. There are mixed reviews about the My Space Ad network, so it will be interesting to see the results.

There is a great free site for creating your own web site. The fine folks at www.jimdo.com let you set up a free page with just about anything legal on it. There are many styles to pick from and you can add html and changes things around a bit. The best part is not only is it free, but it is very google friendly.

The ease  of use is just fantastic. Playing around with the Jimdo setting and a few minutes later I had this page up and running My Online Jean’s Store

Still a work in progress, but it show you the power of the Jimdo platform. If you want your own domain they offer a $5.00 a month plan with pro hosting. Now I have my mind filled with ideas for Jimdo pages.

OK here is a little post to help start the comments on this blog. As a fairly new blog traffic is still low, but I would like those who find the blog to participate and share comments with others. Even if you want to use the comments to let me know if there is some information you might be looking for. The comments add to the site and create a community. So go ahead post a comment about my comment drive.

The last few weeks have be very slow for me. The number of sales I made drop to the single digits on average I was making more then 40 sales a week. Now I know why eBay cut the workforce. The times are tough if you start to lose eBay sales or see a drop. This is when not having all your egg’s in one basket can pay off. Since I also have ecommerce sites and affiliate sites the drop in sales on eBay can be recouped thorough my other sites. With the spare time I know have from not having to pack and ship items I will start a few more web sites.

My other blog which I started about 5 months ago is www.moneymyweb.com which I set up with godaddy.com’s Quick Blogcast. Well it is sad to say, but that blog has not done to well getting index with the search engines. The fault me be with the blog software that godaddy.com uses. You are very limited as to what can be added or changed. This has made me question if I should just kill that site. Since I paid for a year of service and the domain, I might just keep it going and try to get some traffic over the next little while. The Quick Blogcast platform was a big disappointment.

At the time I set up the blog I did not think of just getting hosting and adding WordPress like I did with this site. Well I can still update www.moneymyweb.com and copy some of the content to this site. The next blog I create will for sure be a WordPress very easy to use and many great features.

If you were hit with the work at home bug then you know how important the right furniture can be. In the last few weeks I have replaced an old desk I had with a super duper work station. This has allowed me to have two computers set up, yes a mac and pc living together in perfect harmony.  Now when I develop a site or update one of my blogs I can have all the software I need right at my finger tips. It is a very important part of my day to to day business to be able to access things on my desk as quickly as possible. With most of the advertising I do with PPC I have be using Google Adwords. A few other sites I visit suggested another PPC network called Bidvertiser. It works almost like Adwords accept it runs on a smaller network of sites and you do not get the search traffic. The cost is also much lower to bid on keywords. There are two products that I want to advertise, but did not want to spend a lot on. The set up process for Bidvertiser was simple and I had my ad’s running within the day. Since this is new PPC network I will post results once the programs have been running for a week.
